So its been a week between posting and i blame PMS its horrible!!!

Anyhoo i am enjoying early morning boot camp and this morning was no exception :)

So i am feeling awake and excited about 2 Thessalonians!!

Chapter 2 talks about the coming day of the Lord and reassures the thessalonians that it hasnt happened yet! Because there is a man of lawlessness still at work. and we really do see it in the world dont we? Plenty of lawlessness and sin, waiting for Jesus to be revealed and show it up for what it is and finally overthrow all sin and opposition to him. Why do people follow the way of lawlessness? they are sucked in by the false works of satan and vs 10 'they perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.' and so they believe the lies. its a mirror to our world isnt it??

BUT

there is good news for those in Christ Jesus:
13 But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. 14 He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings[c] we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.

16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

2 Thessalonians

I was struggling with the sameness of Psalms and the lack of Jesus so i have moved to 2 Thessalonians.

I was very encouraged this morning as i read chapter 1.

I love that their growing faith issues in growing love for others, especially those within the church. I also love the concept of living a life worthy. A life of response to the goodness of God!

3 We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing. 4 Therefore, among God’s churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring.

11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. 12 We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.[b]

Psalm 117
A very short psalm calling all people to praise him.
"Praise the Lord all you nations
extol him all you peoples
For great is his love towards us
and the faithfulness of the lord endures forever.
Praise the Lord."

Psalm 118
Reminds me a bit of Psalm 136, a call to give thanks to God for his love and faithfulness.
"Give thanks to the lord for he is good, his love endures forever"
"the lord is my strength and my song, he has become my salvation."

Well hello! and welcome to Tuesday!

My detox headache is gone and i went to my thai cooking class last night...it was a shaky start - not very welcoming but in the end it was ok and i made some fun food. I think next i will look for a surfing course or a running group or something or maybe pottery??

Psalm 114
Is a short Psalm that speaks of Gods glory and power, all creation knows that God is King!

Psalm 115
Compares the glory and love of God with the powerlessness of the idols and false gods.
"not to us O LORD not to us but to your name be the glory because of your love and faithfulness."

Psalm 116
I did an exegetical at college on this Psalm for an old testament 3 class. i cant really remember much! It is a psalm that remembers Gods rescue and goodness.

'Be at rest once more my soul for the LORD has been good to you.'

So i have a massive!!! headache i think from detoxing...ie trying to eat healthy after 10 days of eating crap...

We also had a quite stressful playgroup this morning and my hurting head isnt helping!!

Ps 112
' Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious compassionate and righteous man' ( or even better 'Even in the darkness light dawns for the lord is gracious compassionate and righteous! - textual variant with better theology :) )

Why do many of the psalms sound a bit like a prosperity gospel - follow god and he will give you every good thing....i think in the old testament gods grace to his people was much more national and physical - if the followed him he would give them the land and bless it, but if not exile....but we know that now Jesus is the heart of obedience to GOd and what he asks is a life transformed and what he offers is better than good crops, its a life filled with the holy spirit and a firm future.

Ps 113
Is a psalm of thanksgiving to God who gives all he is the powerful one! so praise him

From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the lord is to be praised.

Psalm 110

So ive been a little bit tired and emotional the last week, i also managed to put on 3 kilos in a week eating crap. its great to have a skill isnt it?

Anyhoo Psalm 110 is a very oft quoted psalm in the NT, its a kingship Psalm.
I've always been a bit confused by it....
'the lord says to my lord
sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies
a footstool for your feet.'

Heres psalm 111 while we are at it:
Its a lovely lovely psalm which praises God for who he is and what he has done!it concludes with:
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.

a busy weekend!

So i know its wrong to let busyness get in the way of spending time with God and etc but let me tell you about this weekend:

Friday: Getting ready for CASA ( our church kids club) and kids sermon for sunday, out for dinner and Dr Who with Marian....good times

Sat: did the bay run, went to a babyshower in the inner west, and then a 30th at North Ryde

Sunday: Lead 8am service, preached at 10am, had people over for lunch and talked to them about Jesus, Exflatmate came and moved some stuff, coffee with a lovely gal from church, evening church and then home, where i couldnt sleep!

Monday: arrived at church at 6.55am to set up for and finish prep for all day kids club. Kid club was awesome and exhausting and finished pack up at 3.45pm. Went to office did a few hours of work, home, gym, dinner cant sleep...

Tues: Up early for scripture prep, scripture, work, staff meeting until 2.45pm! kids camp meeting, pilates, dinner, bible study social, bed...11pm.

Arrrrgghhhh! me tired and eating crap, again! oh well, now for a centering look at the bible:

Psalm 108
Is a psalm of david, it starts by praising God for his love and faithfulness and then then moves on to speak of Gods faithfulness in defeating Davids enemies and giving his people the land
"For great is your love, higher than the heavens, your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted O God about the heavens and let your glory be over all the earth.'

Psalm 109
Another psalm of David, one Calling for Gods judgement on his enemies, those that have lied and cheated and betrayed, let them be found out for what they are. Justice done. BUT please God deal well with me because i know what i am a weak man in need of your salvation. Its a very personal psalm!
'with my mouth i will greatly extol the lord in the great throng i will praise him. For he stands at the right hand of the needy one, so save his life from those who condemn him.'

Psalm 105 & Psalm 106

These two psalms are very similar, they are psalms of praise that rejoice in who God is by remembering his promises and goodness to his people in the past. In Psalm 105 we are called to ' Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles and the judgements he pronounced.' and God himself 'He remembers his covenant for ever the word he commanded for a thousand generations.' God does not forget his promise to his people and we therefore must trust him, remembering his actions in the past and knowing that he will see his promises through.

Psalm 105 remembers Abraham, Joseph, Egypt and Gods provision of the land.
Psalm 106 remembers the rescue from Egypt, the peoples betrayal at Horeb, the peoples baal worship in the land and Gods anger with them for disobeying him as well as his grace in delivering them from his judgement. 'But he took note of their distress when he heard their cry for their sake he remembered his covenant and out of his great love he relented.'

Psalm 106 is the last PSalm in book 4 and ends with this phrase:

'Praise be to the LORD the God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say Amen!
Praise the Lord'

Psalm 104

A psalm that praises God as the creator. God is the one who clothed in light - glory and majesty has created all the wonders of the world, seas, mountains, animals and their food. God sustains them too in the second part of the Psalm vs 27-30 the psalmist knows that without God there is death, he gives all things and without him there is nothing.

vs 31-32
May the glory of the LORD endure forever
may the LORD rejoice in his works
he who looks at the earth and it trembles
who touches the mountains and they smoke.

Psalm 103

Its hard to read this psalm without thinking about the song which is lovely!

Its a fabulous psalm that speaks of Gods character, his love and compassion for people who are like dust but are honoured by God as dearly loved Children.

'The Lord is compassionate and gracious
slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love.
He will not always accuse,
nor will he harbour his anger for ever
he does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities
for as high as the heavens are above the earth
so great is his love for those who fear him
as far as the east is from the west
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.'

I am back and work and trying to focus!!! I did read a bunch of Psalms while i was away and was really challenged to be godly!!

So i think i am up to Psalm 100

I have really enjoyed the psalms in the 90s its been nice to get out of the psalms of Judgement and on to the praising God ones :) The Lord reigns! lets sing the new song of Joy!

Psalm 100 is another of that kind, the all about praising and worshipping God!

Vs 1 &2

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness, come before him with joyful songs
Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us and we are his
We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Yay!!!
How great it is to remember who our God is and start the day being encouraged by that truth!!!

Holidays are almost here and Psalm 85

So tommorrow tomorrow!!! Ill be on a plane and away to NZ then Hawaii, its tops of 30 degrees in Honolulu, but at the moment i cant quite imagine it! its been sooooo cold here!!! I have got gloves on as i type :)Brrrrr!!!

Anyhoo i had a lovely day yesterday meeting with women from church and praying it was fun! I also packed last night so i am feeling a little less stressed!

Here is a Psalm

Psalm 85 is almost like a harvest psalm but its also about Gods salvation. He is the one who gives to his people, he brings peace and abundance to the land. The Psalmist knows that God has saved his people and provided for them and he calls on God to do it again. I love verse 10 - im not quite sure what it means, God brings righteousness and peace? but then in verse 11 we respond to Gods love with faithfulness.

Verse 10-11
'Love and faithfulness meet together
righteousness and peace kiss each other
Faithfulness springs forth from the earth
and righteousness looks down from heaven."

Starting to freak out about how much there is to do before i go!

ALso i am an idiot! I have double booked myself with two one off events, i am so grumpy! I feel like this is happening a lot and its cos my mind isnt in the right place and i am eating like i am trying to set a world record, ugh!

Psalm 84

Ahhh! a lovely encouraging psalm, it speaks of the joy of being with God in his place.

verse 1-2
"How lovely is your dwelling place o Lord almighty
My soul yearns, even faints
for the courts of the Lord
My heart and my flesh cry out
for the living God."

This is my cry today!

Tuesday is the new monday dont you know....

Because i work weekends and have mondays off Tuesday is my "Monday" and so here i am fresh from a year 1-2 scripture class with staff meeting looming. But i am happy because the next few days are filled with fun things like meeting up with people to pray and read the Bible! and then on friday-----HOLIDAYS!!!!

Last weekend we had our church weekend -we didnt go away but we did have lots of things on! I missed alot of the sessions because i was running the kids program. which i think went well but by just before lunch on sunday i wanted to kill them all!!!

We had lots of fun and did lots of activities!
Some link missionaries from the red sea region lead the teaching times and it was really interesting, they love living where they do and ministering in that context. It was super encouraging. they will be coming to my bible study group tonight to share more which i am looking forward to.

I woke up yesterday with a cold - sore throat, muscle aches and pains :(
But i went to get all my waxing done and had a pedicure and eyelash tint before my holiday! I also went crazy and had a spray tan, i looked jamacian last night but it looks ok this morning...a little patch and orange but ok :) I needed something to disguise the 4 kilos i have put on since the last holiday :( I ate WAYYYY tooo much on the weekend! It was YUM!

Only 3 days to gooooooo!

Anyhoo its time for some Psalms

Psalm 82
Expresses the folly of other gods. Yahweh is the only real and true God, other 'gods' and sons of god die and fade but God is God forever he can not die and it is He who will judge the nations.

'Rise up O God, judge the earth
for all nations are your inheritance.'

Psalm 83
Has a similar theme to lots of other Psalms in this section - God come and judge the nation around us, they oppose us and in doing that oppose you and your holy name. Its good but i feel the need for an uplift this morning, sore throat and all!

'Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD, that you alone are the Most High over all the earth."

Friday Friday....gotta get down on friday

* Had a massage for my back but its sorer than before, grrrr!
*this time next week i will be in christchurch with my friend Mary getting ready to leave for Hawaii!!!!!!!!

But first some Psalms

Psalm 80
Psalm 80 is a cry to God from his people who feel abandoned by him, they know he is rightly judging them for their sin but they want it to stop!

The refrain of the psalm is lovely

"Restore us O God Almighty
make your face shine upon us
that we may be saved."

There is no salvation outside of God and their is no salvation earned its a a gift - God must restore us. I love the image of Gods face shining on us, it reminds me of the wonderful feel of the sun after a dark night or rainy day - i turn my face to the sun for warmth and Joy and so i turn to God for the same things.

Psalm 81
Is almost like a plea from God that the people would turn and listen to him, remember his saving kindness and stop idolatry and disobedience. It harks back to the giving of the law to moses and the people...this is how God wants to be treated.

Verse 8-10
Hear O my people and i will warn you
if you would but listen to me O Israel
You shall have no foreign god among you
you shall not bow down to an alien god

I am the Lord your God
Who brought you up out of Egypt
Open wide your mouth and i will fill it.

And now to go and get some last minute things for the kids program and boy o boy do i want a diet coke!!! maybe in Hawaii!

how easy it is to let things slide! Psalm 78 &79

Well i had a shocker of a weekend, so much PMS feeling sooooo grumpy and emotional.

Then on sunday i my car broke down and i broke my phone after having a hissy fit because there was no reception! Serves me right i suppose!

So monday, grump grump grump, very bad weather and i could barely drag myself out of the house to get the phone fixed ($85) and go to the gym and pilates. The car was just a battery and they replaced it on sunday night ($149). Its all a bit expensive right before i go on holiday. And i have put on 3 kilos, seriously!!!! i have been working out and trying to eat right, so mon and tues - i just ate, everything! whatever passed my path, i ate it! back on track today.

The winter weather is taking its toll, there were only 2 at Bible study last night ( which was good and max did a big vomit infront of them!) and not many coming to mums group this morning. everyone is sick! I really cant wait to be in Hawaii but i wish i wasnt so big!

Anyhoo when things are annoying its so easy to let time with God go.

Psalm 78
It speaks of Israels sin the face of Gods goodness, they keep forgetting him and his kindness, even though when they cried out to him he always recused them and was gracious to them. People are so forgetful. I am so forgetful! its so easy to be overwhelmed by the negatives of the day to day and forget the marvellous saving work of God. He has rescued us and promised us a future with him.

Vs 7
Then they would put their trust in God
and would not forget his deeds
but would keep his commands.

Psalm 79
GOd has allowed judgement to come on the Israelites and now they cry out to him in the famous "how long o Lord?" line. Asking how long God will allow his wrath to be free on the people. its a question i often ask, how much longer God do we have to deal with the sin and pain of this life? When will Jesus come back? but God has given us life in Christ and there is joy amidst suffering.

vs 9
Help us O God our Saviour
for the Glory of your name
deliver us and forgive our sins
for your names sake.

Psalm 76 & 77

So yesterday I had a training day in the city, it was ok but what was even better was having breakfast with lovely friends Bec and Jo!

I also read Psalm 76 on the bus in, Its another one praising God for his judgement on those who oppose him and his people.

"In Judah God is known, His name is great in Israel.
His tent is in Salem, his dwelling place in Zion."

Today was Psalm 77

The psalmist feels abandoned by God and that he is not there to comfort, but then he remembers what God has done in the past, his powerful deeds and especially his deeds of salvation (eg the Exodus).

Its so that when you feel like God has abandoned you you need to remember what he has done in the past, what promises he has kept and the that he is a good who does what is right. I once remember a college lecturer asking me, when i was down, if i thought God was good, and i said yes and then he asked if i thought God was good to me, and i had to pause and think a really long time before i could say yes. Even in the depths of pain God IS good and reminding ourselves of who he is and what he is like makes all the difference.

"Your ways, O God, are holy,.
what god is do great as our God?
You are the God who performs miracles
you display your power among the peoples.
With your mighty arm you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph."

Psalm 75

The foaming cup of Gods wrath!
Its really interesting to see how often Gods jugdement is described like a cup of wrath being poured out. Here is Psalm 75, Jesus in the garden, in revelation. I guess my mind goes straight to Revelation as we have been looking at it at church. The terrible day when God pours out his wrath on all the earth, and all those who oppose him will be destroyed. Its intense, Just but intense.

God is righteous, he will save a people and those that reject him must feel his wrath poured out.

God says in Vs 10 I will cut off the horns of all the wicked but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.

Psalm 74

Is a psalm calling on God to judge those who oppose him, it sounds like a psalm that asks God to vanquish those who have defiled the temple. Its hard to want God to crush my enemies in the way that the writer of the psalm does, i dont have enemies in that way. At least i try not too!

But it is a reminder that God is not to be mocked, he will not stand for people ignoring him and reviling him forever, judgement is coming,

Vs 22

Rise up O God and defend your cause, remember how fools mock you all day long.

Well i feel like i have done nothing but eat!!

Marian and i had a 3 course dinner here - http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifninety at rhodes it was awesome!

Then saturday a sleep in - my body needed a rest after all the exercise i had done, then i bought a new laptop and then went to a credo trivia night where i ate massive amounts of cake and lollies and sadly we only managed third after a very promising start!

Sunday was a busy day at church - i went out with an Iranian girl for lunch, we went to Kazbah - and had another 3 course meal! it was great but its very pricey there! Then evening church where and sooo tired! There were people at home when i got there and all i wanted to do was watch tv and go to bed, but i made caulflower soup and Then bed!

God had been very kind. I felt the love from people at church and felt that i could serve them. It was a good day.

Yesterday, my day off! I got up and made hedgehog slice from the left over boring biscuits in the church biscuit tin, then washing then off to the gym - my trainer was sick so i did 1 hr on the treadmill - i am up to week 5 of the couch to 5k program and after the next one, it will be the furthest i have got through! hurrah! Sadly i am not able to do the city2surf this year but i will try to find another fun run to enter or maybe my goal should be to run the bay run all the way!
After that i drove out to freshwater to have lunch with a lovely friend and her granddaughter and we talked hawaii as she just came back from there! Then off to coffee with another freshwater friend, a fabulous godly women in a very difficult situation! it was great to be able to listen and pray for her.
Then home again for pilates and another pilates class - one is a catch up for when i am away. and vast amounts of soup!

I was planning to eat really well yesterday but it didnt happen - fish and chips for lunch, banana bread, too much soup and of course i had to try the hedgehog slice!

Back on track today in more ways than one! Although i meant to get up at 6.30 and go for a run but i couldnt sleep last night and i am a bit tired today so thats not good! But food wise, its time to focus!!! Hawaii is 17 days away!!!

Psalm 73. 24, 26

Psalm 72.19

The psalms are a real wake up call to praise God. I spend a lot of time whinging to God about what isnt right in my life and asking him to fix stuff, but the discipline of praising God isnt something i do much of.

I do long for the earth to be filled with Gods glory.

Thankful Thursday

My how the days fly by!
I cant believe that its almost been a month since i last posted! I'm kind of excited though cos it means the year is going faster!

I was reminded by an awesome friend about my thankful Thursday habit, so with no further ado...

I am thankful for...

1. Gods goodness - he really is good, even in the midst of bad stuff God is good.

2. The things i have to look forward to this year:
April - easter
May - nothing yet - anyone want to announce anything?
June - Hawaii!!!!
July - Bridesmaid at my friend Catherines wedding
August - My lovely friend Rachelle comes home from Israel for a visit
September - my sister has her 5th baby and its my birthday

December - Christmas and AFES mission team come

3. My dud trainer from the gym left today which means i get a new trainer who hopefully isnt such an idiot!

4. I have lost a few kilos on weight watchers - love it! thanks sister deb for putting me onto it!

some of the things i am not thankful for are: massive headaches and sinus infections, the stress associated with preaching twice a week for a while, not sleeping properly, the state of the world.

Confession...

Forgive me oh internet for i have sinned! i havent posted in more than 2 months!! I think i had thought that i had given up on blogging that this would be the end, i would petter out.... but NO!

I'm here and i have decided that i will blog again! Nothing profound really just bits and bob of life.

I had a needle in my back last week that has done me the world of good! i cant remember if i shared with the interweb all my back issues and that i had been diagnosed with a prolapsed or extruded disc in my back and i was having pain in my legs and back all the time. It wasnt as bad as when i first injured myself in September but not fun. so i finally did something about it after seeing many physios and spending lots of money. I went and had some steriods and anaesthetic injected into my back. even now before its had time to work fully, i am in so much less pain, its like a a whole veil of grumpiness has been lifted off me! I cant wait til i can get back to the gym and not be in any pain! Hurrah!!!

Also the new year has started and continued, school started back recently and for me that means a whole new routine with scripture and other kids ministries. must get motivated!!!

We are studying Revelation at Church and in bible study and its certainly lead to some interesting discussions! I really dont think any of revelation is about the pope but there is one person in my group who thinks it is!!!

heres some random trivia because i should be writing 2 sermons one on bible reading and the other on Ezra....

(B) Bed Size: Queen, under which i store a lot of junk and on which there is lots of cat hair from max!

(C) Chore You Hate: I dont really mind 'chores' as long as i have time to do them and a good sound track. I dont much like ironing though.

(D) Dogs? When i was a lass we had a fabulous Border collie cross irish wolfhound called Roland, he was awesome! But I am a committed crazy cat lady.

(E) Essential Start Your Day Item: i CAN just get started but i do love to clean my teeth, have a shower and then a diet coke!

Work continues busy and today i need to write a gingerbread house night talk! All i really want to do is to have a sleep!!

Well i have arrived in egypt and joined the tour, my roommate is a lovely girl from NZ and there are a couple from Wollongong who are fun and a bunch of americans!

We have seen so much! i did alexandria on my first day and then we did the pyramids and the museum, the mummies were cool! then we caught the overnight train to Aswan - not much sleep!

Aswan is hot! we checked out abu simbel and some of the nubian culture - Ab Simbel is only 50km from Sudan!

Last night we went to a light show at Philae temple and today were are hanging out on a felucca overnight!

Its holidays!!!

well almost! I have to go to work today, teach scripture and do a few things but by tonight i will be at the airport ready to rock and roll! Egypt here i come!!

I woke up very early this morning, i think i was too excited to sleep! hopefully i will be able to sleep on the plane, it is a 14 hour ride!!

Well here we are! I'm actually posting on a Thursday!!

I have a lot to be thankful for but today i feel grumpy and tired and like i want to be on holidays already, i still have a bit of a snotty nose and i really should have gone to bed earlier last night!

1. I am thankful for my very lovely and generous parents. They are just cool. Likewise my siblings and siblings in law.

2. I am thankful for a nice warm bed to go home to at the end of each day

3. I am thankful for the opportunity and ability to go overseas on a holiday and see the world

4. I am thankful for my friends and am looking forward to hanging out with a gaggle of them before i go away

5. I am thankful that i fit into some size 12 pants! Yeeha! I dont think thats happened since i was 12!!!

6. I am thankful that i have had a sip of diet coke :)

8. I am thankful for the safe birth of Jasmine, a girl from church's baby.

Well i was too sick yesterday to do anything much so once again i am late with thankful thursday!

I have got a cold and a sinus infection, yuck and only 11 days til my holiday! oh well long enough to get well i suppose!

Its quite good to do this thankful thing once a week, because i find it way too easy to whinge and complain!

I am thankful for:

1. Antibiotics and cold and flu tablets

2. sleep! I went home early from work yesterday and got into bed at 4.30pm, i got up for an hour and a half at 8pm then slept on through til 6.30am. I still feel tired today but i have taught scripture and been to playtime and am now procrastinating on finishing a sermon!

3. my mummy - she is lovely

4. Jo - Bronwyn one of the office ladies is on holidays so Jo the wedding lady is here every day. Its fun! We talk recipes and generally chat :)

5. Mum and dad and my accountant Jean. She is very lovely, she and mum had to work out who would break the news to me that i had to pay tax rather than get a refund! but she gave me some helpful tips for next year!

6. that there are 11 days til my holiday!

Well its been a very busy week, I was away at a training conference tuesday, wednesday and thursday. It was a good chance to catch up with friends and get excited by the good news of Jesus and preaching it! Now the down side...i was tired and generally out of sorts for much of the conference, i didnt realise how much i like my routine until i had to step out of it for a few days. BUT i did manage to do 2 8km walk/runs in the 2.5 days, however the scales still hate me :(

But on to thankfulness:

1. I am thankful for exercise and how much fitter i am than at last years conference

2. I am thankful for sleep ( but would like more of it!)

3. I am thankful for Jesus and the joy of life in him

4. I am thankful for my family, they are so lovely!!

5. I am thankful for diet Coke!

6. I am thankful for the 2 regular girls who come to youth Bible Study, i really hope i can be an example and teacher to them :)

7. I am thankful for cuppa soups especially the laksa flavour

8. I am thankful that it is time to go home from work!

So i had a busy week so i missed thankful thursdays...so here it is on saturday and its very very easy to think of things to be thankful for!

1. I am sitting in my lounge room with my mum and dad! yay for mum and dad staying!

2. We are full of yummy thai food yay!

3. i voted today and although it was a long line, I am very pleased to have my say in Australias governance.

4. I got to marry some people today, its fun being ordained!

6. I had dinner with my lovely friend Claire last night and we skyped Rachelle in Israel!! yay!!!

so here we are the end of a thursday, i'm a bit tired! But here are the things i'm thankful for:

1. exercise endorphines!! I was feeling grumpy and yuck and hormonal and then i went to boot camp! yay it was fun! and i feel better!

2. Credit cards! They mean that i can buy my groceries tonight, rather than wait til monday when i have other things on! (although they are bad cos i spend too much!)

3. 4.5 weeks til holiday!

City to Surf!

I am so proud of me for completing my first city to surf!!

I was a bit nervous and there were lots and lots of people..80,000 but it was so much better than i thought...i never really felt crowded. It was a beautiful day and it was so lovely :)

I think my time was about 105 mins, i will find out on tuesday when it will be in the paper :)

So I am on a journey toward getting buff and so eating right, working out etc but one of the unfortunate side effects is a lack of buffness in the skin....i mean i could almost fly with the wings i have got going on.

So even though i have been on a financial lockdown i splurged today on some Body firming cream. I mean it probably will do nothing but i though i would give it a go...stay tuned and maybe i'll do a review :)

what else? I went to body attack class tonight it was SO hard! ah well, city to surf this weekend!

So i missed thankful thursday last week, i was madly trying to get organised for the high tea we ran at church on saturday and i had a training day in the city all day!

So here are some things i am thankful for this tuesday:

1. My sisters! I love them :) Its so great to keep in touch with them, Deb and i are on facebook and text often which is lovely and last night i spoke to jen on the phone which was great - lots of talk about baby vomit but nice all the same :)

2. My holiday - its only 6 weeks away and i cant wait!!!

3. God's kindness - after being in a bit of a funk lately i have begun to see afresh Gods kindness to me in the everyday things of life. He has been teaching me and growing me even though i dont enjoy it all the time. I have gotten through a bunch of stuff and feel like i can see Gods work in my life :)

4. Zumba - its great, so much fun!

5. taking steps to get my credit card debt under control! hurrah!

so i think thats it for today, there is much more to say but i should do some work! :)

Well i cant believe its august! This time last year i was in Belfast, well Islandmagee actually at the wedding of my lovely friends Sarah and Grant Connor. ( they have now welcomed Bella to the family!)

Its a similar day here in Sydney as it was there, cold and windy! But I feel like i have grown a whole lot this year.

BUT...

I just bought this awesome dress today...its going to be awesome to wear in Egypt and Russia on my holiday!!!

it was a bit pricey from jeans west but i love it!!!

Also i had lunch with my friend Heather today and we went to burwood to check out the target sale.

I also posted off the stuff for my russian visa! my holiday is coming! 7 weeks to go! oops that means there is 2 weeks to the city to surf and my training has been going very badly! but at least my back is feeling better and i will be at boot camp this week!!!

Well it is 4.30am and i cant sleep due to a massive headache..boo! So i thought i would take a moment to do thankful thursday. This week was a bit crazy busy :)

1. I am thankful that we had 21 kids come along to the kids club i ran on monday - thats a 50 improvement on last time! AND there were kids from my scripture classes there!

2. I am thankful for the chance to marry people! I did my first wedding yesterday and it was fun!!

3. I am thankful for physiotherapists! I hurt my back on wed and love that i have been able to see a lovely physio who is making me feel better.

4. I am thankful for lovely friends - hi claire!

5. I am thankful for skype - i spoke to my mum and dad this week, they are so cute :)
Also Mum and dad celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary today...WOW 40 years, thats commitment :)

So since last post i have been sick as the proverbial dog, yuck! I felt like i had been hit by a truck on Friday but kept pushing on through until about 2.30 when i just couldnt do it anymore! I went home, had a cry and went to bed. I slept through til 9.30am the next day only getting up for an hour for dinner.

Saturday i slept alot and lay in the sun with chocolate for a few hours with bec and jo and their families - they have such cute little boys!

Sunday i was feeling a bit better - cold moving to the chest from the head. It was probably for the best as it was a massive church day, church at 8, 10 and then Christianity explored lunch at 12, playtime meeting at 3 and then set up for church dinner at 5.30 followed by church at 7pm - oh my!

So i have been taking it really easy today, i ventured out to the shops but then came home for a rest..no zumba i think and hopefully back to full strength tomorrow!

Goals!

I was reading this blog and it has inspired me to make a few goal for the next few weeks:

1. no more hot chocolates or diet coke (peppermint tea instead)
2. Exercise 6hrs a week (except when sick - like now, so much green stuff coming out my nose!)
3. Read one useful book a fortnight
4. Pray and read my bible daily
5. enforce financial lockdown until holiday (No more DVD's or CD's, no more buying books, stop using credit card, stop buying things online)
6. think of one thing to be thankful for at work each day.

So there are some goal, hurrah!

Next week i am off to see my family and i seriously cant wait! its been too long! its only going to be a short visit but i am stockpiling gifts for people :)

My parents and sister & her hubby have both bought new houses recently which is very exciting and my babies (neice and nephews) are growing up so quickly!

Last night we did some tests at boot camp and even though i am sick i improved in almost everything. I am most proud of my running improvement - i went up a whole level! but i now need to work on my core strength - ie i have none!

Work this week is focused on an upcoming kids club and womens event as well as a wedding coming up! Busy busy but finding it hard to be motivated - maybe cos i'm sick. I really wish i wasnt i want to exercise - the city2surf is only 6 weeks away and my goal is to get rid of 5kg before then, i wish!

ok thats enough rambling for me, better get to work - scripture and playgroup this morning!!

So its been a while since i blogged...

heres the news:

1. I wrote a pretty average seminar on ambition and work and then gave it twice at the MAC conference.
2. The MAC conference was a good chance to get to know so gals from church but it was tiring to be away for the whole weekend. Especially since i had to be up at 6.30am both days and there were lots of technical glitches - my computer decided to die and i needed to buy a new cable-arrggghh.
3. Its Cold!!!!
4. i've been a bit sick on and off and cant decide if i need to stay in bed or just push through...
5. work is very busy at the moment there is a kids club and high tea to organise soon!
6. I did a body attack class last night -oh my gosh! it was sooo hard and i fully expected to lose some weight this morning but no, scales steady...
7. I had a lovely time shopping at DFO yesterday with Alica and Karen, I bought a suit to wear to weddings and a very pretty yellow dress! I need to find somewhere to wear the dress, i cant think of any weddings i'm going to! And the best thing? stuff fit! i could try on any 14 and it fit - so exciting!!
8. I am going to visit my family next week and i cant wait!
9. i am in spending freefall! I so need to stop buying things and save money for my holiday and pay off my credit card...gulp!

so i ate 2 mini bavarians and a wheel of cheese last friday, and a whole bunch of other stuff over the long weekend. Often i ended up feeling sick afterwards - like after the 15 cookie man cookies on monday! And then i got on the scales and it was scary! and you know what the food wasnt that good and wasnt worth the pain of working it off at boot camp, netball and the gym. if i hadnt done it i would be pleased with the scales.

ah well. I was all keen to walk to work from dropping my car off for a service - except it was raining and i am tired. Boot camp tonight and whole bunch of work to do today. working on a seminar on ambition. so bring on the theology of work today! All work is valuable to God! so will we be working in heaven? I think so......which is a new thought for me, i need to work (ha ha) on that!

I got some aged care work yesterday and it was fun! some lovely clients and i got to pray with one of them. I now know where to get the best meat and seafood in Eastwood too!

Weekly update!

Well this blog is really turning into a weekly update on my life....hmmm I should try to be more profound and stuff!

This week was a good yet hormonal week!

Boot camp and Zumba continue well and fun but Alicia and I may have eaten a lot of ice cream cake after Zumba last night - but i maintain it was almost alicias birthday so yeah....

My lovely friend rachelle has left the country to spend a year in Israel doing post doctoral research..waaah but before she left we had a fabo lunch at luxe in newtown it was yummmm! and them I caught up with some friends in newtown :) Good thing i am visiting Rachelle in Israel in october as part of my trip!

It was 3 months yesterday until i go on my holiday and i am very excited! Its also 2 months until the city to surf -eek!! so much training to do! I am now up to week 4 of the couch to 5K program - must get going quickly!

The scales were unkind this morning it might have been a result of fridays blow out! I was feeling really a bit sick and gross and when i got home i ate a small wheel of brie, 2 mini bavarians and a bag of twisties...eeeekkkk!then i went to bed and stayed there for 12 hours! ah well back on the straight and narrow today!

I went to a wedding at my old church in freshwater on saturday and it was lovely - great to see so many lovely familiar faces and a very lovely couple get married.

Monday was also a nice day - i did the bay walk in the sun - i even ran a bit, and then some shopping at Birkenhead point and a little sit down before alicia and i went and saw the A team at the movies - i really enjoyed it! it was a bit of fun and after watching far too many romantic comedies it was a a welcome relief!

Today i am feeling very sleep and unmotivated which is shame as there is lots of work to do and its only going to get worse - i see the light in about August maybe!

Thats how long the city to surf is! And today i signed up for it!!! its on the 8th of August so theres something to work towards. I am doing the couch to 5k and am up to week 3...oh dear!

In other news after Zumba tonight my lovely friend Alicia and I had some excellent japansese in West Ryde! Who know that there was good food next to a petrol station in west ryde? We had freshly made sushi and katsu and lovely noodles! THe west ryde hotel is also really nice - $10 cook your own steaks :)

what else, what else...

my newly 91 year old nan had a hernia operation today, dearly me! she is a tough old thing - she didnt want to tell mum about it, cos she would worry!!! this is the nan who just got out of hopsital after breaking some toes in a fall!

I went and saw streetdance 3D today - it was pretty lame but there saw some lovely scenery let the reader understand :) and it totally made me want to be buff and a good dancer - pity i have no coordination as i showed at zumba :)

I would really like to be asleep now but i was too cold!! its really cold in sydney tonight!! And then i got something stuck in my eye and it was too irritated to shut - boo! maybe in a few hours, arrggghhhh!

I bought some Jarrah Chocolait and drinking it reminds me of being a teenager at home in Old Bar having a cup with mum and dad and the sisters, ah the old days! big love to the family!

i really must take some more photos for the blog its a bit dull without it!

Its over let it go, 52 times a year...

I remember a song that went like that from the radio when i was but a young thing :)

Anyway time to give a weekly wrap up.

Last weekend i went to a lovely friends house warming and ate my own body weight in soft cheese - oh there was some lovely double or was it triple brie - oh so good!!

After that i was off to Tablenosh for a French feast! Leila did a fabulous job and the desserts were a real high point! Creme brulee soooo good! and cheese fondue and a meat dish for main! so yum!! i highly recommend going - check out the website for dates!

I was a little sleepy for church on sunday but had a great time, i lead the 8am service and that was fun, the kids went well at Kids church and then the rain held off long enough for me to go for a run - up to week 3 of couch to 5k! Then i ended up watching Blackpool because it had David Tennant in it. Still not sure what i think of the series - its also got a bit too much sex in it for me but David was good and singing in drama is always a good thing!

We also said the athenasian Creed at 7pm cos it was trinity sunday and greg was preaching onthe trinity. I love that creed the rhythm and profundity of it! but of course many dont like it cos its so long!

This week also i had monday off and slept in A LOT! it was great, went to the gym to do some more Couch to 5K and a bit of shopping. Sadly Alicia was sick so couldnt make it to Zumba but i went and had a great time :)

Tuesday was a fairly normal day - i had fun trying to teach the kids how to look up bible passages and the like. the one thing that did happen was that i left work to go to a drs appt which i assumed was at his rooms in wahroonga - but when i got there (just on time for the appt) i realised that it was in North Sydney - so missed the appt! What a dill ! Hopefully i can blame my hormones or something :) But i made it to boot camp only to hurt my knee a little doing lunges!

Wednesday and thursday I was at a training course in the city learning how to run a course to prepare people for marriage and enrich their marriages. It was a fun bunch of people but by the end i really did feel odd as the only single person there! I have my first wedding in 6 weeks and am interviewing the couple next week :)

i am so glad i dont commute everyday the trains were late and there are SO many people at town hall station! blerch.

Wednesday night i had a ministry couple from up the road to dinner - they are friends from Credo and College so that was fun and we had the nicest mud cake and pork Chops with chickpea stew.

Thursday night caught the train to boot camp and we trained in the rain - we are so hard core! But i am feeling to today. The good news is that i managed to see a physio about my knee and get some stretches etc to help.

Today i am really sleepy but looking forward to a busy weekend :)

Youth stuff this afternoon and then some LOVELY friends for dinner hurrah!

Sat i am off to the city again for an SRE meeting and then birthday lunch for a friend and more friends for dinner! I am feeling very blessed with my friends, its great to have a supportive community especially as a single person :)

Now if only the rain would go away and the nights would go for 12 hours then all would be well!

Netball and a night in!

So at boot camp on tuesday night i met a girl who is doing zumba and plays indoor netball on wednesday nights!

She mentioned that they might need players and i said i was keen, cut to me playing indoor netball on wednesday night! It was lots of fun! I have lost some of my skill and i am not used to playing GD but it was good fun, and i certainly got my heart rate up.

I am really enjoying all this exercise and cant wait to get buff! I have a goal for my holiday and really hope i can get there! And then i will buy and wear a bikini!!!

I am however looking forward to a night at home tonight, no plans and nothing to do but cuddle up with maxie :)

Last night i also put together the bed frame i bought on wednesday so that now i have a queen bed in my spare room. I bought a new doona and a matress for it and the room looks really good. its all ready for visitors! I am very excited about my friends Katherine and Kimsoeun visiting in july.

This morning i have taught yr 5/6 scripture ( and had help from a youth group person who was doing work experience - yay for building relationships!), had a staff meeting, looked at a wedding service i am doing and entertained one of the office ladies grandchildren. They are so cute! Red curly hair and 2 and 4 years old, they were pretending to be kittens and one of them drew me a picture!

This afternoon there is a funeral for a lady from church, i didnt know her but i am going so i can see what happens at a funeral because i will be doing them soon!

ok well i think thats all of the random updates for now. I need to get working on a seminar on ambition and preparing for the weekend!

Just a quick post with more profound thoughts later as i have to dash off to an after college training day today.

I have had a really good week! here are some of the reasons why:

1. Its 4 months til i go on my holiday
2. Max my cat gives me more love when its cold
3. Boot camp is rocking!
4. I have started the couch to 5K running program and found a nice spot to do it, down by the water at meadowbank.
5. because of all this exercise i have cracked one of my get healthy goals :)
6. I preached a sermon on 1 tim 6 - i like preaching and it makes me feel useful at church
7. I went to the Northern Region Ministry conference for the anglicans and it was AWESOME! lots of chatting to lots of people new and old, i unexpectedly caught up with a lovely friend from college and the talks were really helpful.
8. I have an awesome playlist happening on my ipod at the moment
9. i had a real day off yesterday
10. i caught up with a lovely lady from my old church for dinner last night, so much fun!
11. i feel like i am communicating better with my boss
12. i saw my mum on tuesday last week - she is the BESTEST!
13. I got my hair done yesterday and it is soft and lovely :)

ok i think thats enough i need to go get the bus - i will try and put a few pictures up soon. i tried to do a vlog but it wouldnt up load -bah!

I couldnt think of anything profound to say in the title, this is just a life update. I think i will follow Mark Dever and do it in point form!

1. i made it to boot camp last night 12 mins late after a dash across sydney from a dr's appt - it was worth it!

2. my sister and bro in law and nephew are coming to stay tonight, yay! I just hope i have enough doonas for everyone! the plan is to try a lovely indian place for dinner :)

3. my jeans are feeling loose! I am excited about this! I have made a goal to loose about 12 kg before my holiday in september - i really really want to! But my body loves its fat cells, it will do anything it can to hold onto them...no really!

4. I am looking forward to the weekend - there are friends to catch up with and church doesnt look too busy!

5. max is crazy! My cat has gone a bit nuts, its like he has reverted to being a kitten!

6. I have a sermon to write on the very end of 1 Timothy...feeling a little timothyed out :(

7. i have been wondering if anyone still reads this blog? I know Deb does - hello sister! but its been a bit quite on the comments - or maybe i havent said anything worth commenting on :)

8. I am SO excited about my holiday to Egypt, Jordan, Israel and Russia in September -October, its only 4 months and 1 week away! all i need now is some money to spend!

9. My house is quite cold

10. i am playing laser skirmish this afternoon with the kids from youth group, i've never done it before, so we will see how we go!

Zumba!

Well My lovely friend Alicia and I went to Zumba last night, the class was PACKED which meant it was hard to see but it was fun! We went out for $10 steaks afterwards which was lovely :)

I am really tired this morning and am currently procrastinating instead of preparing my scripture lesson for 9.30am. All i can think about is getting a diet coke on my way to meadowbank! the bin people come early on a tuesday morning and for some reason the trucks had their reverse beeps on for ages this morning and then max (my cat) knew i was awake and so proceeded to leap on me until i got up and fed him!

In other news mum has gone to perth to be with my nan who had a fall on friday. She was pushing a heavy wheely bin up her steep drive way and it fell back on her! she bumped her head and broke some bones in her foot and will be in hospital for a while, she is 90 and 11/12ths! Now i know she is ok i have had a little giggle about it, i can just picture her falling back! Poor Nanny!

I also rebooked my holiday tickets yesterday so i can go to Israel for a few days and visit Rachelle who will be studying there. I am really so very excited about my holiday - its still 4 and a half months away - boo! I have a exercise plan so that i can be buff by the time i go and maybe even wear a bikini while snorkelling in the red sea!! we'll see how i go!

Also my sister deb and her hubby and son are coming to stay on friday night that should be fun!!

Hi gang,

it been a busy old time at casa del moi! But i have taken time to do fun stuff, last weekend was great! The monday holiday was good - although its my normal day off and i was a bit annoyed that some shops were shut! I saw lots of friends last weekend and discovered the BEST cannoli in the whole world at Pasticceria Papa in Haberfield - oh wow yum!!!

I love seeing friends it keeps me sane! I have felt much more chipper this week as a result!

I finished a run of preaching and some other things at work so after this weekend life goes back to normalish :)

I have also been embracing a healthy life and I am loving booty camp! I also start 7 weeks on Zumba on monday night, yahoo! I'm looking forward to it. I am thinking of cancelling my gym membership and just doing booty camp and zumba...and i am trying to eat healthy - i am getting some light and easy stuff delivered so we will see how that goes! I have a good goal - my holiday in september, i wanna look buff as i snorkel in the red sea!!

This weekend is church's weekend away -well at home so its a bit busy- i'm running the kids program, should be fun!

The weather has got a bit cooler which is nice and it means Max Cat is much more keen for cuddles :) although i can tell my house is going to be cold...brrrr!

I am missing my family a bit at the moment, my parents have just bought a house and my sister Deb and her fam are looking for one after one fell through and i miss seeing the kids growing up, one nephew turned 2 last weekend....and my mum and sisters are all going to a Christian Womens conference on sat....me wanna go!!! Anyhoo i do love them all and often wish i was closer :(

Hi blog and blog world,

YEs its been a long time..and i'm sorry :( once its been a week its easy to let it me a month :)

Let have the news round up:

School term 1 finished with a flurry of easter services and final things and then easter!
Easter was ok, lots of services and missing my family but after easter began:
THE SERMON EXTRAVAGANZA! I have been preaching 3 weeks in a row which a lot for me as a part timer with an all day kids club to organise, so welcome to THE STRESS ZONE!

I did manage a couple of days away with my lovely friends Alicia and Karen which was nice

So sermons 1 and 2 are done and sermon 3 is this weekend, its written and i pray that God uses it - oh i feel quite a bit of relief :)

Also the all days kids club also happened on monday and it went well so that stress is over and all is happy :)

So what else?

I have started boot camp 2 night a week in an attempt to get fit before my september holiday, its pretty good :) and i've signed up for Zumba starting next week!

Max's tail is still a bit bald but i spent 100 bucks on pherimones from the vet that is supposed to calm him down!

ok gotta go - i'm actually hanging out with some friends today :)

well its been a chocolately sort of time here in chez moi! i have been hitting the gym and eating well for 2 weeks and then got on the scales only to discover i was up 2 kg - so of course i went of a easter egg binge!!! awesome! thats going to help, yeah.

In other news, I went a wedding prep conference and met some of the couples I will be marrying this year. One has been engaged for 13 years!!! it was a good but exhausting day.

I have lots to do at work, i guess easter is a busy time for ministers :)

poor max is still a bit stressed about the other cat in the yard, he has licked all the hair off his tail - ewwwww, but hopefully it will start growing back soon! My sister, a vet, says he is just highly strung :)

couldnt sleep last night, think i got to sleep about 1.30am way to late for an old duck like me.

I read a short history of tractors in Ukrainian while i was waiting for the sleep bus, it was ok, a bit strange and happy sad. I might reread when i'm actually awake.

i also put on just over a kilo this week, what!!!!! And i have even done exercise :(

now i have to go and teach scripture and walk to meadowbank cos my car is still getting fixed, theres some money i cant afford to spend!

ok thats enough rambling i need to get moving....

So yesterday was a lovely Saturday!! I slept in til about 9.30am and thought i had missed my chance to do the Bay walk with Rachelle, but happily she called me and pointed out that it was a beautiful day and she could wait til i got the bus to drummonye.

It was so beautiful! and it was great to chat and catch up and do some exercise!

I have been getting the bus because my car is getting fixed - thats going to cost me $1200, boo :( Hopefully i will get it back tues or wed...

I then got the bus into Broadway and had lunch with Bec, Stu Aston, Jeremy Jo and their soon to be baby! It was fun to see them :)

I then went into Newtown and soaked up the old vibes and went into the Intrepid Travel store and dreamed dreams of my fun holiday in October.

After a Cold rock Ice Cream i walked back into town for the 501 bus back home to dinner and a book and some cuddles with Max :)

I think the sunshine helped me enjoy the day!

so now tomorrow i need to do all the house work i have been avoiding and find a job!

I was chatting with a friend yesterday about what to do when Christian friends are making really dumb decisions. It made me think about Gods wonderful soverignty. While we have responsibility to rebuke and teach our friends and encourage them to follow Jesus at the end of the day God is at work and he is still caring for them even if their decisions cause much pain.

It made me think that life is like a mosaic, its made up of lots of broken bits, shards and cracked glass but what we cant see is the finished picture where God is making something beautiful. We never know how God is going to use the painful shard of glass in our lives.

theres a deep thought before i go off to church :)

3 things i have enjoyed at my new church

1. Koorong Clergy breakfast
I know its weird and not really a church thing but i went along to this breakfast at koorong (christian book shop) and met a whole bunch of ministers from other local churches. It was AWESOME! there were of course some slightly odd types but i met some lovely people who just started at marsfield community church and the minister and MTS dude from the anglican church up the road. I was so encouraged to see people just doing their thing to serve God. Good work Koorong - i'll forgive you for some of your shocking book selections.

2. MCCCEB Dinner
MCCCEB stands for the Macquarie Combined Christian Churches education board. They fundraise and employ scripture teachers at the local high school. I was invited to their 25th anniversary dinner to perform the commisioning service for the teachers for this year. It was GREAT! the chairman in married to the fabulous office lady at church and it was wonderful to see thair passion and to chat to a bunch of older christians from a variety of churches about seeing Jesus taught at high schools. you dont have to be young to care about young people.

3. Hospitality
I had my first people from church over for dinner last night and it was really fun. One couple live 2 doors up and they are from Iran. It was really cool to learn about Iran and Persian culture and learn more about them. They are just learning english so its a bit hard for them but so lovely and so cool that they want to know more about Jesus. The other couple were a lovely couple from morning church, very nice peeps. AND my middle eastern orange cake turned out well for dessert :)

Lots of people wonder why he waited til he was 30, this morning i thought maybe it takes 30 years to really know and feel the brokeness of the world and the pain of being human?

Even the most optimistic person has felt pain, disappointment, sin and death by 30.

So it was brought to my attention today that i havent blogged in ages, and i must repent and indeed remedy the situation. So the low down: lots and lots of changes!!!

I got back to syd and spent some time with the lovely people of freshwater, hanging out with people from St Marks church and going to the beach, it was great! God had really blessed me with great relationships there and i will miss them so much. It was especially lovely to see so many st markians at my ordination today (more on that later).

I spent a lovely long weekend away with Claire and Rachelle see photo below:

I then started work at St Annes Ryde,

its been a funny start because of the Australia day holiday and Ordination retreat i feel like i havent been around much. But i have an office and a staff team to work with which is exciting. I am working mostly with Kids doing sunday school and teaching scripture. I will also be doing some weddings and preaching about once a month. I'm really excited about the weddings and a bit nervous about getting back into preaching as i have got pretty rusty over the last year. I am struggling with typical new job issues like what am i doing and how do i fit and who are these people! But looking forward to settling in.

Last week i moved to a little 1920's cottage behind the church, its full of character but not much storage! I was very pleased to be reunited with my cat max and unpack some of my stuff, although still waiting for the wardrobe, pantry and linen cupboard to be delivered.

Today was a special day, I was ordained as a Deacon in the Anglican Church! We had a retreat earlier in the week ( although it really should have been a conference there was no rest time or reflection time, not very retreaty!) It was really fun to catch up with people from my year at college and hear how they were all going. Mum and dad came up from Albury for the event and i was very blessed to have lots of lovely friends and church people there to support me. It was awesomely humid and there was much sweating done but i will really blessed to be here and sent out to love and serve Gods people. It was a very significant day i think for me to think about how far i've come and how i might be used by God in the future. Here are some piccies:

Well hello blog world,

sorry its been a while since a post. There has been lots happening, my lovely sister had another baby Boy, Peter on the 14th and i drove down to Finley on the 23rd after finishing work at my 2 jobs on the Northern Beaches.

It was hard to say goodbye at church although it doesnt really feel like it as i will be back by the beach until about the end of Jan. I was kinda happy to stop aged care work but i might go back to it one day a week next year if i dont find anything else.

Christmas at the farm has been fun! my nephews ( all 4 of them) and my niece are very cute, i had a sleepover at the farm last night and appart from the lack of sleep it was great!

I scored a lot of jewlery this christmas...not sure what that says....:)

hmmm i dont really have any plans for new years and i kind of feel like a bit of a loser but most of my friends are in syd or married with babies or both! ah will quality time with mum and dad, i think they both will be asleep long before midnight!!

ummm i think thats all for now i have some photos which i will attempt to post when life becomes a bit more normal. Mum and dad are moving house soon so we are packing and cleaning too.

Well tonight i am spending my first night in my summer lodgings :)

The movers came at 7.30 this morning and everything is in storage, tomorrow up early again to clean the flat and take the keys back...although have lost one set..boo :(

WEll its been another busy week, trying to fit packing in around work and getting new job stuff sorted.

I cant remember if I mentioned it before but I am getting ordained as a Deacon in the Anglican Church next year! I am really excited! Feb 6th at 10am at the Cathedral in the city! I bought a really cute pink clerical shirt this week, i'll post a pic later.

I also spoke at a gingerbread house night last night, i think it went well here is a pic of me with my house...

Today i avoided packing as much as i could which was a bad idea, but now i am off to the lovely Kat's 21st hurrah!

Then plenty of church tomorrow, and i need to do a trip to the tip...so much junk!!!

Its been busy... I've started packing, and packing and some more packing, I move on wednesday! It will be good to get that sorted and live 2 blocks closer to the beach!

Max totally knows something is up and doesnt let me out of his sight and is so chatty!

We had a whole church dinner on saturday night and that sort of took care of the weekend! I spent all day (with the ministers wife) cooking for it! and it was so hot on sunday that i just wanted to die!!! 40 and soooooo humid!!!The dinner was lovely and a success but i had a whole tray of apple crumble left!

Monday was the aged care christmas party, it was quite fun chatting with the oldies, I sat next to a lady who had the same name as my grandma and whose husband had Alzheimers like grandpa, i had a sad little moment remembering grandma. Its going to funny at Christmas - as the only single one it was usually me and Grandma, now it will just be me.

Tomorrow lots of work and then on thursday night i'm off to see the B52's and the proclaimers!! he he he he!

Mum is coming to visit on monday hurrah! so lots to look forward to! :)

Its been a lovely weekend

its weird I've been so grumpy lately but this weekend i think i am coming out of my funk. I had a restful day yesterday - packing sorting and then went to the lovely Claire's birthday party. I had a great time chatting with some friends i hadn't seen in ages and hanging with Ra-ra. And Max is going to hang out with Rachelle for the summer hurrah!

Today i wasnt down to lead anything at church which was nice for a change. The morning services were fun and then we went door knocking to collect donations for Anglicare - i wasnt looking forward to it but it was actually better than i expected, its easier door knocking in the suburbs! Then a short nap followed by evening church which was fun too. I love the people at church and will really really miss them next year! A bunch of us, mostly from Bible study then went out for a drink - Dee Why was pumping!

I will find out very soon where i am working next year and looking forward to making some plans!

well i packed a few boxes today!

And i have had 2 open houses this week at my place, poor maxie gets put in his box for 15mins. But hopefully they will find a new tenant soon, its exhausting having the house tidy all the time!

In other news i should have the job sitch sorted by the end of the week, it will be nice to know whats going on for 2010.

Also i had a very lovely evening celebrating Claire's 28th Birthday! it was a beautiful night in the Shire catching up with some people i hadn't seen in a while and chatting with friends.

now i really need to go to bed, big day of church tomorrow!

Well here i am in the city waiting for an after college training day, I am here so early because you can never tell how long its going to take from the wilds of freshwater and the traffic gets toxic at about 8am.

Anyhoo...

The job sitch:

Have had the three chats and would really be happy with any of the jobs, they all have their good and bad points. So its hard to know what to do. I mean at this point the ball isnt really in my court, i am waiting to hear if the people want to take the next step, which will involve more interviews. so none of the jobs are in the bag.

Its a very strange position to be in, i'm so used to hoping for anything and getting myself used to the though of the worst case scenario, its odd to have a couple of good options.

So i need prayer and the wisdom of those who know me plus i actually need the job people to want me!!

Other things:
I am moving out of my place soon and so need to start packing!! Thats a scary thought. I have gone through some of my clothes and books and got rid of some things. Max and i will be downsizing to a garage for the summer, so i need to find some storage for my stuff and work out what i will need for christmas etc. Part of me would love to know what the plan for 2010 is before i pack, but it really should all be much clearer in 2 weeks.

God answers prayer...who knew!

A little job update:

I was getting stressed out and not sleeping this week and so i prayed Thursday night and finally managed to leave in Gods hands...

Friday whilst visiting old people i had 3, count em 3 calls about potential jobs!!!!

So now i have 3 chats booked in next week and still have to hear from the interview this week.

Now the chats might not go anywhere and even if they do, how to I decide what is the best one to pursue??

2 things i hate happening soon...

1. Halloween
I hate halloween for 2 reasons, 1. Its not an Australian thing, i think it comes from us watching too much US tv. 2. it glorifies all things not good, halloween is the day before all saints day (hence all hallows eve)its a celebration of death. WE should never celebrate death, its a symptom of sin in the world and we should grieve it. The only way to beat death is by having life in Jesus not by being a vampire or a zombie. I think thats why i hate the vampire craze at the moment, a celebration of death and evil and all things anti God.

2. Melbourne Cup day
I dont like Melbourne cup day because its become a national holiday, its even a public holiday in VIC, why? so we can watch a horse race. Now i'm not anti horses etc but its the celebration of Gambling and the preocupation with all things trivial, fashion, drinking too much and wasting money gambling. There are so any other good things to celebrate - why do we focus on getting drunk and spending money frivolously?

as i have posted before i will be finishing up at my job at the end of the year and hopefully have somewhere new and exciting to go.. (had a job interview, which i muffed a bit on tuesday, and sent a few emails too)

But the real news is i have decided to break my lease and move out, there is a lovely lady from church who has a garage flat i will live in for december before i go to finners for Christmas.

So if you want a 2 bedroom flat in Freshwater message me!

2010 is still a big mystery..praying for contentment!

So I have been attempting to be a good little bunny and go to the gym and exercise a bit more, especially since i got given 3 months membership and the diggers gym for my birthday.

I have been attempting to work up to running on the treadmill but what i find i need are good songs!

ps speaking of bunnies there are lots of rabbits around freshie, i see them when i go walking and they are fun to watch running in and out of the shrubs at the gym!

*Church work is busy; my boss has been away this week and I have been writing a talk for a womens event this sunday and a few other bits have been happening so i have felt busy!

*Aged care work has started back this week, i dont have many shifts so far but at least i will have some money soon, starting to feel a little broke! But on the down side it means i dont have time to do the church things that sneak outside the 3 days.

*I have been meeting with a woman for Baptism preparation for her kids, its been really fun and interesting!

*I had a busy day off visiting friends which was lovely, tiring but lovely!

*hmm i think thats about it! I'm a bit brain dead tonight, I have been at the lovely Kate and Ian's wedding all day it was fun but in Berowra Waters...so far away!!

The first week of being 30!

Well so far being 30 rocks!

I had a very lovely birthday. It was last wednesday and though i had to work it was still a great day, a very generous lady from church gave me 3 months gym membership and i went out with a gang of people from church to see Wicked.

I really enjoyed Wicked!!! it was lovely to see a musical although it made me pine for Les Mis! oh why wont it come back!!

So then i had a Party! the weather was terrible and it was supposed to be a BBQ by the beach, so we moved to the church hall which worked out well as there was space for the kids to play.

It was so lovely to see many friends who i hadn't seen in a while and catch up with church people. What was even lovelier was that my family came!!! Mum and dad flew up and Jen and Ben and the kids and Deb and Richard and Alex all came! Its been FANTASTIC to see my family they live so far away and i miss my babies! they grow up so fast!!

So Jen and Ben and family and Mum and dad have been here all week. We have been very busy doing things, Its amazing how 3 kids under 5 make everything busy! Mum and Jen and I went to see wicked (again for me) on wednesday night and Jen and Ben took the kids to a live show of the New Macdonalds Farm on thursday as well as that Jen and Ben have been looking at People Movers because baby 4 is due in Dec.

Mum and dad are in Newcastle today because dad is graduating with his medical doctorate, that makes his a dr for the 3rd time!!

Jen and ben and kids are visting friends so i have some time to myself!

Tomorrow Mum and Dad and I mind the kids while Jen and ben go to a wedding! ( oh and i will be off to a hens day at some point!!)

So life is a bit crazy! oh yeah and on top of that my boss is away for a week so i'm in charge!

More when life gets a bit more normal!!!

Last day of the 20s!

Well today is a momentous day, After today i will be in my thirties...and actually i'm feeling pretty good about it,

I am happy with my life, i have a great God, fantastic family, lovely friends and a fabulous church family.

Sure there are things i would like to be different, when i was growing i never imagined i would be single at 30, living with my cat and looking at being unemployed in 3 months. I'd love to have a hubby, kids and the lot but I am happy with my lot, I am content. And i can only thank God for that.

The thirties look ok, i would like a job though, anyone know of any ministry jobs going?

Well my birthday is next wednesday and its a big'in! I will be 30!!

I'm having a picnic party at freshie and all my lovely family ( except for the Perth people) are coming!! as well as a few friends..it is on the long weekend so people are piking left right and centre, booooo!

But muzzie, lovely muzzie gave me some moolah to get my hair done and i went to Cassidy's of Harbord and gone some foils and a trim as i have decided to grow my hair.

Well i just had to have that rant about being hot and now i am ready to fill you in on the last 3 weeks.

I didnt get to go on many more walks until this week because i went to a wedding in Maitland and then had an operation.

First the wedding...Troy and Laura some friends from my old church in Beaconsfield have moved to maitland and it was my great pleasure to be involved in the wedding service.

The Church in Telarah has a different churchmanship to what I am used to but it was interesting to participate in an Anglo-catholic service. I had to robe and it was VERY hot! but i felt more sorry for the minister Katherine, she had more robes on that i did.

I was so pleased to be able to do the introduction...the whole dearly beloved we are gathered here today... it made me feel like a real minister!! I also did a little sermon on Romans 12 which was fun and it seemed well recieved!
Troy and Laura both shed a few tears...troy more than Laura i think :)

So drove back to sydney that night after speeches and dessert so i could be at church the next day...exhausted much!

Then the operation...
Mum came up to look after me which was lovely! AWWW i love my mummmy :) It was laproscopic so i only had to stay over night which was good and almost a week on i'm feeling pretty good. I have to be on a liquid diet for 2 weeks and then purees for 2 weeks...i'm a little sick of drinking but its ok :)

I go back to work tonight for Bible Study which i am looking forward to, I missed church on sunday which i needed to do but i miss everyone!

On that note Terry (my boss) announced at Church that I am finishing at the end of the year and that the new Guy (marc Gilbert) is starting at the end of January. so i have been pondering jobs... there isnt much going but i refuse to worry about it. worse case scenario, i move to Finley or Wagga and get a job doing anything or work in aged care 5 days until something comes up. At least i get to be with my family at christmas and for my new niece or nephews birth.

oh so thats enough ranting for now, i'll try to be a bit more regular with the posting!

So i decided to go for a walk this morning, which i did, but before i checked the weather... and oh dear it is 28 degrees and theres a warm wind and arrrggghhh now i'm really really hot!!!

I finally got off my butt and have been for 2 walks in 2 days...wow! it doesnt hurt that i live right by the beach where it is lovely and the sun is shining because it is spring!!

Sorry blog world its been a while!

Its the old old story, lots happening, nothing happening!

since i got back from Belfast its been pretty hectic at work, we have lots of events happening for connect 09 and i have been in charge of organising a lot of them which is tricky because i only work at church 3 days a week!

Its also job hunting time AGAIN! sigh! while i was on holidays church interviewed a guy to replace me so its pretty well 100% that i wont be staying where I am. This means i need a new job! Ideally (so that i can be ordained) it would be a full time parish job in Sydney. These are like hens teeth at the moment, having spoken to some of the girls finishing at college they are feeling the pinch too. this whole church planting push means no jobs for women, it kinda sucks!

Anyway that takes a lot of brain space as well as the fact that my 30th birthday is approaching and i am trying to organise a lovely party and do the things on my 30 things before 30 list!

Also i have also decided to take control of my weight and do something major about it! So i am pretty focused on that at the moment.

so my poor brain is full! and there are lots of lovely people to see and minister to at church and of course all the oldies i visit!

I have gone to casual at ARV with the oldies, it means more flexiblity for me but sadly probably less money which is not so good but given that i am probably moving in december i can probably suck it up, especially since there is so much else going on in my life!

so there is a wrap up of the last month - ad a dash of being sick and a naughty cat max and there you have it!
